Cheech Marijuana PSA

Behind the Scenes

Cheech Marin + State of California Marijuana legalization - Public Service Announcement

We’re all familiar with the pot-induced antics of Cheech and Chong, so it was an absolute delight getting to film Cheech Marin in a tongue-in-cheeck Public Service Announcement for the State of California, starring the State’s very own Secretary of State, Alex Padilla. Owing to Cheech’s schedule, we only had 2 hours to film the project. However, we made the best of it and were happy that it was not only fun and light hearted but also educational and informative about the sign up process of legally signing up for a Marijuana-based business in the State of California.

Starring: Cheech Marin, Georgina Bekerian, Alex Padilla
Directed by: Brian L. Tan “BLT”
Producers: Jesse Melgar
Edited by: Brian L. Tan “BLT”
Cinematographer: Trevor Hollander
Camera Assistant: James LaFortezza

Not only was our PSA publicized from the official California Secretary of State’s website, but we were also featured on CBS News, NBC, KTLA, the Sacramento Bee, and more.

U.S. Army Virtual Reality Commercial

Short Film Documentary + Virtual Reality 360 Video

Leaders Made Here

Leaders Made here - U.S. army virtual reality 360 video

Nature vs. nurture, born vs. bred. It’s a debate as old as time. Are leaders born, or are they made? To the United States Army, the former is the case.

Hot on the heels of the Virtual Reality (VR) revolution, we were commissioned by the United States Army Reserve Officer Cadet Training Corps (ROTC) in conjunction with Holor media to produce the U.S. Army’s first ever VR 360 recruitment video. Featuring the cadets of Bruin Battalion out of UCLA, we wanted to give viewers an all-immersive, in-depth experience on what it was like to go through a Field Training Exercise (FTX) over one very long weekend at the Marine Corps base at Camp Pendleton.

Striving for realism, the crew consisted of film professionals as well as an Army Public Affairs team who did everything the cadets did in order to strive for maximum realism.

Starring: The cadets of Bruin Battalion
Directed by: Brian L. Tan “BLT”
Producers: Frank Ishizaki, Kymber Lim
Edited by: John Peeler
Camera Team: Derek Sherwood, Dae McDonald
VFX Supervisor: Erick Gleiser
Post Production Coordinator: Guillom Hines
Post Production Producer: Matt Olson
Special Thanks: Lt. Colonel Shannon Stambrensky, Victoria Sanelli, UCLA ROTC, Holor Media

Being the Army’s first ever Virtual Reality 360 video targeting millennials and techies who liked the VR space, we were lucky to be featured on We Are the Mighty, as well as a few other military press outlets who praised it’s originality and engaging story while preserving the heart and soul of the cadets and cadre featured.

Harlem Globetrotters

Behind the Scenes

Harlem Globetrotters in 360 - Virtual Reality Video

The Harlem Globetrotters have come a long way from Harlem, In fact, they have been delighting and thrilling audiences worldwide for decades and when we got the call from Holor Media to film them in their first ever 360 Virtual Reality (VR) video, we were said yes before they could even tell us more. This production was particularly challenging as we had to film while a live show was ongoing, and had zero to no room for error as some of the acts could not be repeated.

One particularly novel moment was when the Globetrotters did their famous ‘magic circle’ ball pass where several basketballs get thrown in a circular motion between several players all at once; requiring a high degree of dedication and attention to detail. We wanted to put our camera in the center of it all, and nearly ended up losing it at one point!

The Rook

Branded Commercial/Short Film

The Rook

The Rook: an Immersive Virtual Reality Police Experience

In partnership with Holor Media and the El Segundo Police Department, we shot the world’s first ever first person Virtual Reality (VR) video. As the idea behind the project was to be as immersive as possible, we made the viewer the rookie, or the Rook, a fresh recruit to the job that needed the ins and outs of police work explained by much more seasoned police officers like Detective Luke Muir; thus giving our characters a reason to break the fourth wall and make the experience that much more unique and engaging.

With an expansive view of what it takes to be a cop, Detective Muir takes our viewer on an incredible experience all the way from a real, live-fire gun range to a hostage rescue and a helicopter flight over the city of Los Angeles. We even detonated a flashback in front of our VR camera for the rescue for added authenticity. All in a day’s work.
